It just so happens that my friend, Kathy, has a great write-up on the Nashville Flea Market for even more details! But if you’re planning a trip to The Music City, you may want to take the Flea dates into consideration. I’ve also heard great things about the Nashville Flea Market, but alas…I was in town on the wrong dates. They display housewares on top of clothing racks which is hard for a short person (like me) to easily peruse and photograph.īut don’t let that stop you from checking it out! ![]() I did, however, check out Southern Thrift Store, which was the third of the huge thrifts that I discovered. I checked out a couple of additional antique malls but truthfully, they weren’t really all that memorable. ![]() Now, there are a few other notable shops that I hit in Nashville but didn’t get quality photos of. In fact, I hardly thrifted any treasures on this trip, but the ones I found came from this thrift shop. It had a fantastic supply of furniture (and some vintage pieces that I lingered over) and an even better housewares department. Instead of picking up a cake I thought it might be cute to have little cupcakes, and seriously I would have just left them right in the plastic packaging had I never read your blog or met you!! So I whipped out my new platter and practiced arranging the cupcakes, along with some extra sprinkles, curling ribbon, and candles.One of the other HUGE thrift stores in Nashville, TN that I really enjoyed was ThriftSmart. It just happens to be Georgette’s birthday and we are having a party at school during lunch. Eddie, do you remember the cream colored rectangular Wedgwood platter you found for me at the outdoor market? Well I am using it tomorrow. We all agree our souls got a massage on Sunday!! Life can get so busy and hectic, sometimes you forget to treat your soul. We are now inspired to bring more beautiful things into our lives. You were both so warm and gracious and attentive!! We all had so much fun…it was like shopping with friends. I know I speak for Jennie, Georgette and Nancy when I say how special the experience was. I’m very sure a lot of people would like to participate, even folks from out of town. Oh, the notebook and pen was a super nice touch! It will now be my official “flea market” notebook! Yesterday was my first time to shop with a group and what a revelation it was - everyone was enthusiastic and was on the look-out for my tea cups & saucers while they looked around for things for themselves, plus the added value of getting your take on our purchases, Thanks for introducing me to that place…I can’t wait to visit again! Also, I usually go to flea marketsĪlone (or with my husband if he’s in the mood)…I like to take my time to dig and discover. I visit the Hell’s Kitchen flea market when I can but I’ve never been to the Antiques Garage. Just wanted to say THANK YOU for a fabulous time at the flea markets! What a nice way to spend a Sunday. As you can see, we were all so excited to be there (including me!), the laughter started early…then never stopped the entire trip! And last, but not least, Claire, a writer and longtime flea market fanatic. ![]() Next, the sweet couple from Virginia, Lauren and her husband David, together with their adorable one-year old Christian. And that’s exactly what it was! First, there were the four spitfire girls-teachers all of them-from Long Island: Alex, Nancy, Georgette and Jennie. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted the experience to feel personal, as though we were all just shopping with friends. And for this, my first shopping trip to the flea market, I could not have asked for a nicer group of people!Įarly on, Jaithan and I decided it was important to keep it relatively small. Well, last Sunday at the flea market here in town, seven such friends who’d previously existed only in Blogland, reading faithfully day after day, on lunch hours and coffee breaks, finally came together. While most of you I’ve never met in person, it’s through your kind emails and comments that I’ve begun to foster friendships that feel more and more real everyday. ![]() For four months now, ever since Jaithan and I started the blog back in July, I’ve also had the tremendous fortune of being able to connect with so many people who share my enthusiasm for beautiful, timeless design that everyone can afford. I love a good flea market. Whether it’s here in New York or one of many around the country, I’m always up for an adventure, digging through history and discovering new ways to use old things.
